On the Devon farm

1. David and Valerie had a flock of geese. They laid some eggs but somehow a duck egg got mixed in with them. When they hatched a duck appeared with the geese. Now ducks have much shorter legs the geese so when this duck, who thought it was a goose, tried to keep up with the the other geese its legs were invisible because of the speed they went. It looked as if it was floating along with no visible mean of support.

2. There was the saga of the cow(s) and the pig. They had a somewhat gross pig (of Empresses of Blandings proportion). The pig was fed with milk produced by the cow. The pig's appetite soon, however outstripped the cow's ability to produce milk. So the obvious solution was to get another cow thus more milk. They did not reckon with Mary who chose a cow which looked sad and in need of TLC and was cheap. The downside was that it failed to produce milk. The result a dissatisfied and rather a slimmed down pig
